Don't forget your old songs

Don't forget your old songs
- [Instructor] One of the things that consistently amazes me the farther along I get in my songwriting career is how songs that I've written five, six, seven, even 10 years ago all of a sudden find a home and begin generating income. So, all that to say, even though it's great to be excited about whatever you're working on in the moment, don't forget your old songs, especially when it comes to looking in your catalog and finding opportunities to pitch those songs. It is amazing how songs that were written many years ago find a home. There's very rarely a straight line between writing a song and getting it placed and generating income. Usually, it's older songs that have kind of made their way through the system in some bizarre way that you don't understand, that all of a sudden end up in a home getting recorded by an artist or placed in a film and generating income, so don't forget those old songs!
