Learn to access inspiration
- [Instructor] Speaking of consistency in songwriting, one of the most important things that consistency teaches us is how to actively access inspiration. When we get started in songwriting, almost without exception, songwriting happens as this sort of magical moment that we're not expecting, we don't know how to predict it, and the next thing you know, we're writing a song. That's the kind of inspiration that drops from the sky, and that's wonderful, but that is no way to build a consistent songwriting practice. The more that you teach yourself how to actively go out and get inspiration, the easier it will become to write consistently. So learning how to access that inspiration is much better in the long run than just sitting around and waiting for inspiration to find you.
