- Another thing to think about on the mixed bass is clipping and saturation generally. You can really add a lot of vibe and kind of definitive character to a mix, by adding some saturation. So let's check it out. I'm going to go ahead and call up just a really simple plug-in that I really, really like. And it's called, the Phoenix. It's made by Crane Song. And I'm just using this as an example. It's a really simple tape emulator. We have a couple of different controls. These are different sort of EQ algorithms and then we have the brightness here, and then the process is the sort of amount knob. Now, this particular plug-in is pretty sensitive to the input level we might get some saturation in areas of the base that we don't like. So let's just keep an eye on it.
