- [Instructor] So on the topic of saturation, it's important to kind of think about where some of these different emulations of things came from because whenever we're dealing with saturation or by and large, when we're dealing with saturation inside of the computer, we're talking about emulating artifacts, nonlinear artifacts that we get from classic recording technology. So there are a lot of different types of saturation. And saturation is just a word for distortion. And if you're thinking of Jimi Hendrix when I say the word distortion, that's okay, you're not wrong, but distortion can be a lot more subtle. All it means is a non-linear response. To me, it sounds authentic. To me, it adds life to things. To me, it's a very good way to produce and mix, just to think about adding harmonics onto things because it gives them presence and it gives them life.
