- [Instructor] One of the things that sets great demos apart from sort of typical sounding demos is when the studio musicians think in terms of parts. What I mean by that is each song is thought about as a series of sections and each section will have a musical part. Being a great studio musician is much more than having an amazing command of your instrument. It's about being able to create recognizable parts for each section of the song so that you're making the demo memorable and easier to learn, as well as musical. On a slightly more advanced level, one of the things that is done in great sounding demos is not only to create parts for each section of the song, but to create something that we refer to as a signature lick. A simple, memorable musical part in your song's intro, after certain choruses, as well at the end of the song, will go a long way towards helping your song stick in people's heads.
