Trust your own opinion
From the course: One Minute Motivational Tips for Songwriters
Trust your own opinion
- [Male Instructor] Truly, the only opinion that matters at the end of the day, when it comes to your songs, is yours. Everyone will have an opinion. That is just the nature of being a human listening to songs. However, your opinion is the one that is going to enable you to get up every day and continue to write songs, to have the courage to perform those songs live, possibly, and most importantly, to pitch those songs to get them out in the world. So if you feel good about the songs that you have written. If your opinion is that you are doing good work, that is the single most important thing. I'm not saying to be blind to recommendations or critiques or comments, if you feel they are constructive, but in the end, your opinion is the one that matters and the one that will sustain you through your entire career as a songwriter.
