Try writing early in the morning
- [Instructor] One more note about writing songs and schedules: Try writing first thing in the morning, right when you wake up. I don't know exactly what it is about that state that you're in when you first get up in the morning where you're a little bit less guarded, you're a little bit kind of vulnerable, you're not really ready for your day, you don't have your armor on yet; just get up, sit down, and write! I think getting out of our own way is one of the biggest things that we all struggle with as writers. So any little trick that you can use to help yourself get out of your own way, you should try, and writing first thing in the morning, right when you get up, is one of those tricks that I found to be really useful.
