- [Instructor] One of the beautiful things about working in the box these days, is that we have such a huge variety of different types of plugins to use, whether it's a new tool that's kind of trying to push the ball forward or whether it's an emulation of some classic piece of gear that you've heard on a million different albums. Let's take a look at some of those basic archetypes here. I want to start out talking about a VCA Compressor, A VCA Compressor tends to be an SSL emulation. The big SSL consoles of the days of yore and some of the current ones had a really great what was called a Quad Compressor. It's a Bass Compressor, the mix on the board was sent through it. It had a certain glue that was the word that a lot of people liked to use, so when you hear the word glue compressor in Ableton Live, things like that.
