Welcome

Welcome

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Julio Appling and welcome to Real Books and Accompaniment Tools for Musicians. Real Books are invaluable tools for musicians, providing the basic framework needed to learn, practice, and perform the standard tunes in jazz and many other genres. In this course, we'll take a look at the history of the real book, where it came from, how it changed, and where it is today, and offer some general tips for using it in rehearsal and performance. From there, we'll also look at a selection of digital accompaniment software, including the feature-rich Band in a Box and the relatively new iReal Pro. Plus, I'll give you an overview of several accompaniment tools, including web-based and ready-made play-along resources. Finally, I'll leave you with some tips on how to best leverage these tools in the practice room and on the bandstand. All right, let's dig in to Real Books and Accompaniment Tools for Musicians.
