- [Instructor] Given that I'm recommending not doing fully produced demos are your default setting, one of the things that can really help a scaled down demo, if you do want to use some sort of rhythm, is to be creative with your rhythm tracks. What I mean by that is look for alternatives to using a full drum kit. If you really want to communicate the groove to your song, there are ways of doing this without using a full drum kit. While it's obvious and easy to add drums and bass to your song, sometimes a simple shaker, or a kick drum will do. Even foot stomps and hand claps are another way of doing the same thing. If you are focusing on the groove of your song and on your rhythm tracks, remember to create a groove, but not at the expense of the song's melody and lyric, which is the whole reason you demo a song.
