- In this movie, we'll take a simplified look at cables and adapters. I've been asking for years why is there more than one audio cable or audio adapter, it would be so much easier if there was just one. As it is, we have multiple cables, adapters, plugs, connectors, transformers, and all sorts of stuff that winds up in a bag somewhere and, of course, all cables tangle themselves up overnight because they have a mind of their own. It will help you a great deal if you wrap your head around some of the basic types of audio connectors that you'll encounter. There are four types of audio connectors that you should have at least a passing familiarity with. Have a close look at this one for example. This is called an XLR or three pin connector. It's very popular, goes out on lots of dates, and provides you with a positive, clean, robust connection. And that's what you want. When you're on location, you really don't want bad audio connections that result in crackling sounds and other issues.…
