- In this movie we'll face head on the problem of environmental sound. Maybe your show wasn't scouted very well, or something happens on shoot day and you find yourself next to an airport with airplanes taking off and landing. Or it's a train station with passenger trains arriving and departing, or, more commonly, it's a highway with lots and lots of traffic. These problems may be beyond your control, but they certainly will impact your show. The stark truth is that if you record there, you're gonna record those backgrounds too. And of course, the news gets worse. In post-production when you're editing your show, every time you make a cut those backgrounds will tend to shift suddenly. Your best and simplest option is to scout your locations in advance. That will go a long way toward avoiding these types of circumstances before they occur.
