- Welcome to Capturing Audio for Video: Tips and Techniques. In this movie, I'll try to help you figure out what to do when things go wrong. It's a show business reality that in any production things will go wrong. Professionals know this and plan accordingly. The best way to do that is to schedule your shoot so there's enough time to handle things as they arise. Don't crunch time on location. If you know an advance to do that, your day will go a lot more smoothly. If you have a professional sound person with you, then any audio issues are their problem, thank goodness, but many of you will be on your own, and since you're watching this movie, you've probably encountered several of the most common issues with capturing sound on location. I can't go over everything that might arise, but the key thing to know about troubleshooting sound is to start at the beginning.
