- Welcome to Capturing Audio for Video, Tips and Techniques. In this movie, we'll take a look at the tools you need for listening closely to what you're recording. Does that seem obvious? You might be surprised at how often it's done poorly, or not done at all. There are situations when actively listening at the same time you're capturing the sound of something is hard to do, such as while conducting a live interview. Asking intimate questions while you have headphones on is not easy, and makes your subject uncomfortable. It might also be difficult when you're directing a video, or operating a camera. And wearing headphones while you're on camera is also a bad idea. Better. Let's start with the premise that you must listen to what you're recording while you're recording it.
