Comparing mixing styles

- [Narrator] Since we explored mixing for different delivery formats I'd also like to touch briefly on stylistic differences between three types of sound design projects, commercial based sound design, narrative based sound design, and documentary sound design. Let's compare the mixing aesthetics of these different video styles, and I'll give you a few examples. We'll start with the commercial project. Now, for one, a commercial project's going to be a lot shorter in length than other projects. Usually commercials are either 30's or 60's, 30 seconds long or 60 seconds long. It's a pretty short amount of time to get across a lot of sonic information. One thing is that it's going to be a lot of non diegetic sound involved in a commercial project. You're going to be relying a lot on sound design elements, wooshes, explosions, those types of sound design elements that are going to enhance the image and the text that often is part of a commercial project.
