- [Instructor] As we briefly looked at in the last movie, your film has a higher chance of being successful if it finds the right audience. So if your film is like Pokemon fan fiction, it would probably do better screening at like, maybe a comic book convention than it would at a general film festival. So it might be a good idea to put some research into what film festivals are out there. A great film producer once gave me wise advice. "Find out what films are like yours that did well, then do what they did." Now, that might seem overly simplistic but it's true. What's the best Sci-Fi short you've ever seen? Or what about that documentary short that everyone you know is talking about? Find out where they premiered, what festivals screened them, where they're available online, what producers made them, and everything else you could find out about the deals they made and the choices they made to advertise and distribute…
