- [Instructor] Let's explore and define some new directions and current conventions for immersive audio in the field of sound design. We can talk about immersive sound in two related but technically quite different fields. We can talk about immersive sound for the movie theater and home entertainment systems and we can talk about what I call personal immersive audio systems, those will be the ones used for virtual and augmented reality. I'll begin by talking about the movie theater and home entertainment systems. If you've seen more recent action blockbusters, they're available in one of three immersive presentation formats, Dolby Atmos, DTSX, or Auro 3D. These are all multi speaker formats that can be mixed to in post-production and they include full discreet surround sound systems plus height channels.
