The role of music in a soundtrack

- [Instructor] Music, makes up the third key element of our three stems for our soundtrack. Let's look at the function music plays. First, we've discussed this a bunch, but is the music from the world of the film or not. It's actually really fun to play with this convention as a sound designer. For example, imagine a scene where music seems to be playing at part of the non-diegetic soundtrack and the actor's driving in a car. Then, the actor turns the car off and the music stops. Suddenly making the music shift from what seemed to be non-diegetic to diegetic. Coming out of the car speakers. Next, we can talk about this source of the music. Is the music found and placed into the film or was the music composed specifically for the scene?
