Analyze surface elevations
- [Instructor] Most often we look at our surfaces in the form of contours, but they can tell us so much more than that. Let's take a look at a surface elevation analysis. I'll start off by selecting the surface and then picking Surface Properties from the ribbon. The first thing I need to do is make sure I've selected a style that will actually display the analysis. I'm going to pick Elevation Banding 2D. Let's take a look inside of this style and I'll tell you what's so important about it. If I go to the Display tab and scroll down to the bottom, you'll notice that Elevations are turned on. These last few line items, directions, elevations, slopes, and so on all have to do with different types of analysis. So displaying an analysis in Civil 3D requires two major steps, set the style to something that actually will display the analysis, and then perform the analysis.
