Analyze surfaces
- [Instructor] Surfaces aren't just great design tools. They can also give you information about your project. In this video, we're going to use slope analysis to detect problem areas in our grading design. To get started, I'll click one of the contours that we see in the drawing to select the surface, and then I'll pick Surface Properties up on the ribbon. Interestingly, Surface Properties is where you go to perform an analysis. There really isn't an analysis command. It's built right into the properties, so I'll go to the Analysis tab of Surface Properties and I'll choose Slope as my elevation type. Next I want to indicate the number of ranges, so basically what we're going to do is take all of the slopes on the surface and break them into four different groups or ranges.
