- Wouldn't it be great if Civil 3D checked your design as you went and let you know if you did anything that went against project requirements. Well as you can guess, I'm about to tell you that it can. Let's take a look. I'll start by clicking our alignment and going to Alignment Properties. You'll notice on the Alignment Properties dialogue, we've got a Design Criteria tab here at the end. The first thing I'll do is set the Design Speed to something a little more practical for a subdivision. I'll set it to 25 miles per hour. Then I'll say that I want to use criteria based design. In this video, we're going to focus on the design check set, so we'll uncheck design criteria file and we'll actually cover that in the next video. We've got a design check set already lined up for you here called subdivision. And let's take a look inside and see what's going on.
