- [Instructor] Playing connect the dots is fun when you're a kid, but not so much fun when you're connecting thousands of survey points day after day. Wouldn't it be great if Civil 3D could automate that for you? Let's see how that's done. To get started, I'll make sure I'm on the survey tab of the tool space. And I also want to make sure that Essentials 2 is my current survey database. I'll right-click that and pick open for edit. Let's take a look again at our raw data for this project. I'll go to my chapter three, exercise files folder, and double-click Topo Survey.txt. And if we look at some of the points in this data file, we see that we've got some codes for the description and then some additional codes. Like for example, EP stands for edge of pavement. But we see this code BEG that actually stands for begin. And we see as edge of pavement, begin curve. And we see edge of pavement end, and then also end curve. So…
