Apply widening to an alignment
- [Instructor] A while ago we learned about using offset alignments to create edges of pavement, curbs, and other linear features. You can apply widening to those offset alignments to create turn lanes, passing lanes, bus turnouts, and other types of design modifications. So let's see how this works. Before we jump in let's talk about what we have so far in the drawing. I've got a center line alignment, and then referencing that alignment as offset alignments are these two edges of pavement. And then referencing the edges of pavement are two more offset alignments on each side, representing the curb. So these three together kind of represent the curb and gutter. So the reason I set up that relationship, is so that when I modify this alignment with a widening, the curb will bump out with it and follow suit.
