Create sample lines

- [Instructor] It's time to begin our chapter on cross sections. And it just so happens that you can't create any sections in Civil 3D, without first creating sample lines. Let's see how they work. Sample lines are created based on an alignment, and what a sample line is, it's a path along which a section is going to be sampled. Now as far as what you're actually sampling, that depends on what you're design calls for. So to get started in the process, on the home tab of the ribbon, I'll simply click sample lines. And the first thing I need to tell Civil 3D is what alignment am I basing my sample lines on. Now I've got a lot going on in this drawing, it might be difficult for me to pick the alignment, so I'll go ahead and do what it says on the command line here, and press enter to select from a list.
