Creating parcels from objects

- [Instructor] To begin creating parcels we're going to start with existing objects that we've drawn in. We're using just regular AutoCAD objects in this case. If you don't have 0502 parcels from objects exercise file open already, let's go ahead and open it up. We can find it of course from the quick access tool bar, chapter 5, 0502 parcel from objects. So now that it's open, we notice that in this drawing that there are two objects; a poly line and a line. We're going to take those and we're going to convert them to parcel segments, feed them to a site, and then Civil 3D will create the parcel for us. Let's see how to do this. From the Home ribbon, Create Design Panel. We're going to chose Parcel and come down to Create Parcel from Objects. It asks us to select the objects. Notice the kind of objects you can select. You have lines, arcs, poly lines. But then you can even reach into a xref, and it will take a copy of that geometry to create a parcel segment in this drawing. Very nice…
