Import survey data
- [Instructor] Now that we've seen how to create a survey database let's learn how to populate it with survey data. To get started, I'll go to the home tab of the ribbon expand the create ground data panel and select import survey data. I want to select the essentials one database. I'll click next and then under data source type I want to be sure to select point file. I'll click the plus sign and browse to my chapter three, exercise files folder. The file I want to select here is Topo Survey.txt. I'll select that and click open. Where it says specify point file format, I want to scroll down to the bottom and select PNEZD common delimited. It's very important that you get the order of these letters correct. What they stand for is point number, northing, easting, elevation and description. You'll notice that Z stands for elevation. This needs to match the format of the point file that we just selected, the text file.…
