- As with all Civil 3D objects, labeling is just as important as the design itself. Let's see how labeling works for design surfaces. We'll start by clicking the annotate tab of the ribbon, and then I'll simply click the add labels command up here in the left corner. For feature I'll select surface, and the first label we want to look at is contour multiple. I'll choose that and click add, and then we're going to zoom in to lot number two because it's got a lot of contour stacked up here in the front. Now the first thing we need to do is select the surface that we're labeling so I'll click one of the contours, and then I'll simply strike a line through all of the contours that I want to label.
