Understand gravity networks

- Nearly every type of civil engineering project involves underground piping for storm, sanitary or other purposes. As you've probably guessed, Civil 3D has specialized tools for designing pipes and their associated structures. Before we get into using the tools, let's take a look at how Civil 3D handles these systems in a general sense. In Civil 3D, a collection of pipes and their associated structures is called a pipe network. I can go to prospector and show you the pipe networks that are included in this drawing. You'll see that there's one called Sanitary, and one called Storm1. I'll right click Storm1 and select it. And you can see it's been selected in the drawing. Next, I'll open object viewer, and we can take a look at the network in 3D. And you can see that it's more than just some symbols in the drawing in plan view.
