External referencing
To get started with our MEP design we kind of need the help from an architect. I suppose we could just stack a bunch of electrical equipment and pipes out in the middle of a field somewhere, but we need to set some boundaries for ourselves. Those boundaries are the actual buildings that were going to be modeling in. Unfortunately these boundaries often get shifted around when we are in a live project. Therefore, we can not just insert an architectural background as a simple block. We need to insert it into our model, that's for sure, but we need to actually link a path back to the original file. That way, when the architect makes a change, you get a pop up stating the architectural model has been updated. The objective of this video is to create an external reference or ex-ref to our model in the proper location and format.
