AutoCAD 2D projects and 3ds Max

- [Shaun] Welcome to the course where you're going to be importing a 2D AutoCAD project into Autodesk 3D Studio Max. Now you'll notice on the screen we've got a flat 2D AutoCAD drawing. It's a very simple drawing. You can see there that it's just a little sort of box shape of a building, couple of rooms, little bit of furniture, and there's also some grid lines in there as well marking out where things should go. Now, why would you use an AutoCAD 2D drawing and take it into 3D Studio Max? Well, 3D Studio Max is a product that allows you to add lighting, materials, properties to objects that are in 3D. And the whole idea of that is it gives you a real life environment. I'm going to take you through the workflow and the process you would use to take this 2D drawing into 3D Studio Max. And more importantly, just make it into a shell ready to be used in 3D Studio Max for materials, lighting, photo realistic rendering, et cetera. So let's get into the course now and I'll show you how to prepare your 2D AutoCAD drawing and then take it into 3D Studio Max to get it ready for that photo realistic effect that you want.
