Buffer analysis

- [Instructor] Creating buffers around selected GIS features are useful for proximity analysis. For example, you can buffer a river segment by 50 feet and use that buffer to choose the trees that are protected by the riparian zone. Or, another example, which I'll show you here, we can add parcels and buffer a particular address and get all the addresses within 50 meters of it. Let's drag and drop parcels into our current session. Under view, we're going to double click on the buffer named view and this property at the end of the cul de sac, we're going to buffer that zone 50 meters around. So we click on analyze, feature buffer. The feature is already selected. The distance will be 50, the units will be meters. We're just going to output it to our buffer layer. We'll leave the SDF to the default location. We're not going to bother merging because it's a single buffer layer.
