Connecting to file-based vector data

- [Instructor] AutoCAD Map 3D can import and export many formats but one of the most effective ways of working with GIS data is to attach it directly to your drawing rather than importing it. Let's do that now. So on the Display Manager, we click Data, Connect to Data. So we get a long list of GIS data formats that we can connect directly to and edit that data. For example, we have ArcGIS Connections, ArcSDE, Enterprise Industry Models, ODBC and MySQL, directly to any Oracle Spatial or Postgres, raster images, SDF and Shapes, SQL Server, SQLite and all the WFS and WMS connections. In this case we're going to use a shape connection. For the connection name let's just call it Exercise_Shape. Now we have two choices with shape files, we can connect directly to a single file or a whole folder full of files.
