Connecting to file-based vector data

- [Instructor] AutoCAD Map can import and export many formats, but one of the most effective ways to working with GIS data is to attach it directly, rather than importing it into your drawing. To attach GIS files and databases to your drawing directly, in Display Manager, click on the Data button, and click Connect to Data. We have so many choices here in the Data Connect List, and you'll notice different icons. ArcGIS data connection, you'll see the icon looks like a little database, and that's what it is. You'll have ArcGIS Online Connection. You'll have to use the ArcGIS Connector dialog box in the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS. We'll look at that in another lesson. Another database is Industry Model Connection, or MySQL, ODBC, Oracle, you can connect to anything Oracle, especially Oracle Spatial, Postgres as well, or a Raster Image or Surface or LightR.
