- [Male Instructor] Welcome to another AutoCAD Tip and Trick. What we're going to look at today is calculating areas in your AutoCAD drawings so that you can extrapolate that information and, perhaps, take it out of AutoCAD and put it into a separate application. So, we've got a new drawing for you. You can download it from the library. It's called CalculatingAreas.dwg. As you can see, I'm very original with my file naming for Tips and Tricks. So, what we've got is a little gear wheel with a hole in it. Now, the gear wheel itself is made up from a poly line and a circle like so, but what I need to know is the area of the materials that the gear wheel is made of 'cause that's a hole through the center of the gear wheel. So, I need to know the area of this bit going around the gear wheel like so. Now, if you go to the Home tab on the ribbon and go to your Utilities panel, you can see if you click on the file underneath Measure, you can measure distances, radius, angle, area, volume…
