Creating slices - AutoCAD Tutorial
From the course: Learning FARO As-Built for AutoCAD
Creating slices
- [Instructor] Creating slices in a point cloud lets us see specific areas that are aligned to your AutoCAD UCS. For example, we can create slices that allow you to see just the floor or just the ceiling, and those will run parallel to the x-y axis in your UCS. Or, we can create a slice that's parallel to, for example, the y-z axis, and that's going to show us the elevations, the walls, or the structural steel elevations. Again, it's a feature that you'll likely need to see to understand, and it will take you a little while to practice with it. So lets go play with it a little and figure out the slices. So we're going to look at just the basic slicing tool. So just start with some elevations and some plans. Now the slicing tool can be found in Sections panel of the As-Built Modeler tab in your ribbon menu. The slice tool here, we're going to click our slice tool parallel to the UCS plane. Now look at your command line here, and it's going to ask you exactly what it is you want to do…
