Exporting GIS data

- [Instructor] Sharing DWG data with other GIS systems is part of the full design cycle with most organizations. Many standard GIS formats such as shape file, map info tab, STIF, and micro station DGN are available to export. When you export data, normally you have some sort of attributes attached to your information. In the streets drawing, if we pick on one of the streets you will see that in the Properties dialogue box that each street has an id and a street name. So if we were to export this data, we'd want to make sure that this object data went along for the ride. Let's export these streets out to a new SDF file. Now the SDF format is used in many applications including MapGuide Open Source, InfraWorks, AutoCAD Map and Civil 3D. To export, click the AutoCAD Map button at the top, choose Export, in this case we're just going to click on Other GIS Formats so you can see the other GIS formats available. By default, it shows SDF. But we also have CityGML, Esri formats, Google…
