Gross internal area (GIA)

Staying with our gross areas, we're gonna now look at the gross internal area, or GIA. So this is the internal polyline that you would create to measure the entire gross internal area of this particular floor of the building. You can see the gross external area is there, and I've deliberately put it in that nice bright green so that you can see it's there. So if I now go back to the Layers panel on the Home tab on the ribbon, and I come in here and click on my little fly-out and switch my polylines back on by clicking on the snowflake there, that'll bring the room area polylines back into the drawing. And as you can see now, you're starting to see all of these areas begin to take shape in your facilities management drawing. Now I'm gonna zoom in in the top left area of the building again like so. And again, I'm not gonna bore you by doing the entire gross internal area polyline but in the same way that you've created the gross external area polyline, you would now go to the layers…
