- [Instructor] Welcome to another AutoCAD tip and trick. What we're going to have a little look at today is edge extensions, and we utilize those when we're trimming and extending in our AutoCAD drawings. I've got a really simple drawing here for you. It's called EdgeExtensions.dwg. And it's just a group of lines on different layers. Now what we're going to do, we're going to go into the Trim command first, but then utilize the option where we hold down Shift and extend at the same time. Now what's really important when you're working with trim and extend is to make sure that you select the appropriate cutting edges or boundary edges. Now bear in mind if you're trimming, they will be cutting edges. If you're extending, they will be boundary edges. But obviously they jump between the two if you hold down Shift and obviously go into trim or extend in either of the trim or extend commands. It's actually a bit easier if I show you on the screen.
