- [Instructor] We're starting another AutoCAD tip and trick now, and we're going to look at translating layers in AutoCAD. Now that's not translating layers into a different language. So for example, I might not translate from English into French, for example. What I'm talking about here is translating layers from one drawing format to another drawing format. So we're talking differing standards, differing CAD products. For example, you might have brought a drawing in, let's say, from MicroStation where the layers, basically, are numbered rather than have layer names. Something along those lines. So we've got a new drawing for you. It's called Translating Layers.dwg. It's the usual drill, download it from the library to follow along with the video. Now, in this drawing, if we jump into, say, the Layer Properties in the Layers panel, you can see that we've got some layers called Doors, Walls and Windows, kind of self-explanatory.
