- [Voiceover] We now need to manage our XREF, our external reference layer. So again, we're staying in the 00_GND_FM drawing right now, and I'm going to go to the Home tab on the ribbon, going to jump into the Layers panel and look at my Layer Properties. Now you'll notice all these grey layers starting 00_GND_GA_FIN, fin. Now those are my referenced in layers. They're coming from the reference file, the attached structural plan, the GA drawing. Now, I don't really want those layer names to be that long and to be that unwieldy, so how do I change that? You'll notice in the Layer Properties manager, if I expand the XREF out, there's the name of the XREF there. Wouldn't it be nice if the XREF name was just two letters? That would make my layer management of my XREFs so much easier. So I'm just going to close the Layer Properties manager, and what I'm going to do now is put the crosshair in the drawing area and type "rename" like so, and press Enter.
