- [Instructor] Let's take a look at placing grids in our building floor plans. This feature can be used to quickly illustrate floor tile layouts or ceiling tile layouts. It's a simple process that can also help you estimate the cost to replacing tiles or carpet. Let's take a look. So the building grid, we can find that if we go up to our as-built building plans tab in the ribbon menu. So we can do this entirely within AutoCAD or we can use VirtuSurv as well. So we'll do it both ways just to take a look at the differences. So we're going to come up to our building elements, and we're going to choose the grid. Now I'm going to use the line option. Now depending on what it is that I'm modeling here, if I want to do 18 inch floor tiles, so I'm going to call this 18 inches, and I'm going to give it square. If you're doing something like ceiling tiles where you've got rectangular, you can put the x and y, the length and the width in here too. Because I'm just going with square, go with 18…
