Thematic vector layers

- [Instructor] Color coding your GIS vector data based on an attribute in the data is called creating a thematic layer. Thematic layers can be based on points, lines, or polygons. A typical theme might be color coding your parcels based on a zoning designation. That's what we're going to do now. In our drawing, let's drag and drop this Zoning.sdf into our map. It will automatically connect to the sdf file and give it a default color. To theme this data, double click on the zoning or highlight and click style. In the polygon style from zero to infinity, click new theme. The property we're going to theme based on is called ZONE1, so change it from FeatId to ZONE1. We're going to use the default colors and click okay. Now, you will see that there's thematic rules for each color. As you look, you will see each zone designation has been given a default color, going from yellow to dark brown. There are a lot of themes in here, I close the theming editor, you can see there's subtle variation…
