- [Instructor] Welcome to another AutoCAD Tip and Trick from lynda.com. We're going to be looking at one of the new AutoCAD 2017.1 update variables in this Tip and Trick. Now I've made it into a Tip and Trick because it is a really useful variable that will make you more productive when you're working in your drawings. As usual you can see I've got a really simplified drawing to take away the wood from the trees so that we can see what we're doing and see the technique that we're using. The variable we're going to look at is selection off screen. There's a new drawing for it, see the name of the drawing at the top of the screen there. And as usual you can download that from your lynda.com exercise files to follow along with the video. Now, how many times have you had a big long drawing with a lot of objects in a long line, like in the drawing we've got, where you go to select them and as you do so go off the screen and when you zoom out slightly they're not selected anymore?
