Using areas in AutoCAD

- [Voiceover] So we're staying in the Introduction to FM chapter and what we're going to have a little look at now is using areas within your AutoCAD drawing. Now the whole idea of using the areas in an AutoCAD drawing is, when you create a polyline in AutoCAD, it also creates an area of that polyline, that you can then utilize as an area for facilities management. So what I'm going to do briefly, is I'm just gonna jump into a fairly sensible-shaped room. So I'm gonna go for this one at the top here and I'm going to zoom in on it, like so. You can see we've got a room there and it's got those angled walls there where the windows are. And what you would normally do is you would measure the internal area of that room. Now we're going to go into this in a lot more detail as we go through the course. But what I would normally do is use the polyline command, like so, and then make sure that my object snaps are on down here. So I make sure I've got things like endpoint and midpoint and…
