Using a proprietary title block

- [Voiceover] We're starting a new chapter now, just like we did in the AutoCAD Facilities Management 101 Areas course. We're going to look at setting up a Facilities Drawing. Now, I've included this chapter in all three of the Facilities Management series, purely because you might pick up just one of the series and follow it, so you need to know how to set up a Facilities Drawing correctly. So, in this chapter, we're gonna be using the 00_GND_FM_FIN.dwg file. Now, that particular file will be included in your https://www.lynda.com exercise files, but it will be the finished article, the completed article. The drawing that you need to use to follow along with the videos is just called 00_GND_FM.dwg, so make sure you use the right drawings. So, I'm in the FIN version of the drawing, you will just be using 00_GND_FM.dwg. So, you'll notice when go into the FM drawing, it's actually empty. And the first thing we need to do is set up our Proprietary Title Block. Now, the good thing is I've already included a Title Block in the drawing for you, and if you go down here to the 00_GND tab, which again, I've already set up for you there, I've renamed the Layout one tab to 00_GND and deleted the Layout two tab. So the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna set up our page size, which is going to be an ISO A1 sheet. So I come down here, right click on 00_GND, and go to Page Setup Manager work site. Now, you'll notice there's no Page Setup set up for this particular tab. You can tell because it's just got the asterisks around it, which is the layout, 00_GND there. So we click on New, and the new Page Setup is going to be called ISO A1 and then Landscape for the orientation, and then a dash again, and then PDF, we're gonna plot to PDF if we do plot. So I click on OK, and I set it up there so DWG To PDF, that was already in there, if it isn't, just click on the flyout and select it, Paper size, again, great big long list, so just scroll up and you'll see the ISOs there, we want ISO A1 841 x 594. We're gonna plot to extents, now you'll notice that there's no extents at the moment because there's nothing in the drawing to go to the extents of. So, what we've got there is Layout right now, that's no problem, and we've got acad.ctb there as well. Now, the Scale will be 1:1, because our Proprietary Title Block is also the same size, the 841 x 594 millimeters. So I'll just click on OK now, and you can see there's our ISO_A1-Landscape-PDF. Highlight it, make it blue, double click on it, and that will apply it to your 00_GND layout tab. So then click on Close, like so. Now you'll notice everything gets a lot bigger. Just double click on the wheel to zoom extents, you've now got an A1 sheet, 841 x 594 millimeters. We now need to insert the Proprietary Title Block, so Insert tab on the ribbon, into the Block panel, and click on Insert here, and you'll notice the only Block available is, strangely enough, your ISO_A1-Landscape Title Block, which I've inserted into the FM drawing when you download it from the https://lynda.com exercise file. So I'll click on it, and as I come into the drawing area now, can you see it's sitting on that bottom left corner of the Title Block, the insertion point I'm gonna set to 0,0 and then press Enter. Now, it should go directly on to your sheet like that so everything sits nicely. So the actual Title Block you'll notice there, can you see, sits inside those dashed lines so everything plots within those dashed lines. If it doesn't sit properly, just right click on the tab here, Page Setup Manager, and select your Page Setup. Go to Modify, and what I would do, is I would actually set it to Extents, and then Center the plot like that and then click on OK. You'll be prompted do you want to edit those references and everything else, say Yes, and then Close, and it will center automatically. Sometimes AutoCAD has this tendency to place the Title Block in weird places, so, Modify your Page Setup, set it to Extents, and Center the plot, and it will center every time. So that's your Proprietary Title Block all in place, ready for the next step. Now, remember, we're working with this drawing all the way through the chapter, so just leave the drawing where it is, and then go to the next video.
