What you should know

- [Instructor] So what should you know before taking this AutoCAD Essentials course? Well, the whole idea is is that you should have taken the Learning AutoCAD course already from the library. That gives you a basic understanding of the methodologies and concepts within AutoCAD. That's what you should know first. The second thing you should know is that we're using AutoCAD 2020 for this particular course, and that's the latest version of AutoCAD. So you may find that some of the dialog boxes, the icons, the ribbon and so on may look different to the version of AutoCAD that you're using. You might be using a slightly older version of AutoCAD to follow this particular course. And the third thing you should know is that we are using the AutoCAD DWG file format and all of the files are saved back to an AutoCAD 2013 DWG. That means that you can use older versions of AutoCAD with this course. Now, it may mean that some of the dialog boxes and, as I said, some of the views, the icons, the ribbon and so on may look different. But don't worry about that. The essential concepts and methodologies are all the same. Please also be aware that a lot of the measurements in this particular course will be in metric measurements. They will be measured primarily in millimeters and sometimes possibly meters as well, but primarily metric millimeters.
