- [Instructor] Welcome back to another Tip & Trick in AutoCAD. Now, what we're going to look at today is using fields to display object data in our AutoCAD drawings. Now, I'm not talking about the nice big green fields that you might walk-through with your dog for example, I'm talking about data fields. Now, the data fields themselves are contained in a database behind your drawing in AutoCAD, and they are sometimes referred to as ex-data, Now, ex-data is what they call extended and (mumbles) data and it's basically everything that you've got in your drawing. So, for example you'll notice I've got some blocks here that present landscaping. Every single one of those blocks will have its own individual little handle, it's name, and all of the information, the location of it, the X and Y coordinates are all stored in this data base behind the drawing.
