The new AutoCAD 2020 interface

- [Instructor] When you start this course, you'll realize that we're using the latest version of AutoCAD, which is AutoCAD 2020. Now, the interface for AutoCAD 2020 has changed a bit over previous versions. You now have this new dark mode, as you can see. So the screen is a very dark bluey gray, almost black, kind of color. What you'll also notice is the icons have changed quite dramatically in the ribbon as well. If I jump across the ribbon tabs, you'll notice that they're much, much more refined, much cleaner and easier to see, with appropriate colors that are easy on the eye. This is all to do with HD and 4K support on monitors, to obviously reduce eye strain. The dark mode is also part of that as well. But you'll see that the icons are much, much easier to see, and are a lot more descriptive as well. If I jump back to the Home tab, for example, and look in the Modify panel here, you'll see that things like Trim and Extend are much, much easier to spot. Trim has a pair of scissors. Extend has a little arrow going to a line now. So obviously things are easier to see, easier to understand, more importantly, easier to use. So, when you're working through this course and you might be using an older version of AutoCAD, or perhaps an older version of 3D Studio Max, be aware that the icons and the interface may look subtly different, because they're a little bit older and they haven't been updated up to the latest 2020 standard that you can see on the screen at the moment. So just be aware of the interface and the new AutoCAD 2020 interface. And also be aware of the interface in 3D Studio Max, which is also at the version 2020.
