The new AutoCAD 2021 interface

- [Instructor] In this particular course we're using the latest version of AutoCAD, which is AutoCAD 2021. You'll notice that the interface is different to older versions of AutoCAD. And there are some differences that I just want to bring up for you so that you're aware of them, and so that you know that they're there in case you're using an older version of AutoCAD to follow along with the course. One of the first things you'll notice in AutoCAD 2021 is the dark mode. This dark gray-blue kind of color that you have on the screen when you're working in AutoCAD. The reason that dark mode was brought in was to reduce ailments like eyestrain when you're staring at your AutoCAD drawings all the time. What you'll also notice as well is there's been an icon interface update. So you'll notice that the icons look different to previous versions of AutoCAD. If you go up to the ribbon and just flip through the tabs at the top, you'll notice that colors have changed on the icons, and some of the icon designs have changed as well. You'll also notice they're much crisper and cleaner. And that's all to do with support for 4K and HD monitors that are now available when you're working with AutoCAD as well. So as we work our way across, you'll notice the icons and also the panels there are much cleaner, and much, much more defined. There's much, much more use of color as well, you'll notice, in AutoCAD 2021. I'll just pop that back now to the Home tab on the ribbon. Now, there are other things that have changed in AutoCAD 2021 as well. There are some new features that are available, and we'll work through those as we go through the course. But bear in mind that the whole idea of this course is to get you working with AutoCAD, regardless of the version. Sure, we're using AutoCAD 2021, but there's nothing to stop you using a slightly older version of AutoCAD to follow along with the exercise files and watch the videos. So make sure that you're aware of the changes in the latest version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD 2021. And if you're using an older version of AutoCAD, just take care to keep an eye on some of the commands and the interface in case it is slightly different to what is in the videos.
