- [Instructor] In this particular course, we'll be using the latest version of AutoCAD, which is AutoCAD 2022. Now the interface for AutoCAD 2022 may look different to the interface of your AutoCAD, especially if you're using one of the slightly older versions of AutoCAD to follow along with this particular course. Now, as I said in one of the previous videos, we have saved the exercise files back to an AutoCAD 2013 DWG file format. So you can go all the way back to using AutoCAD 2013 to follow along with this course. Now the interface may be subtly different. So let's have a look at that interface a little bit and see how it all works. So up here, you have the application menu available to you, the big red A. If you click on that, that'll open up the application menu. You've then got the quick access toolbar along the top there. You've also got over here, your info bar where you can sign into your Autodesk account. Now you have the ribbon here as well. This is the main driving interface for AutoCAD and AutoCAD 2022. So what you'll notice now, is I've got different tabs going along the top of the ribbon, like so. Very similar to other Microsoft Windows-based applications. You'll see there. So there's all the different tabs. And you'll notice there, I can even go to the Autodesk App Store if I want to. Let's jump back to the home tab, and we'll have a little look now. On the ribbon, there are panels. So you have tabs and then these are your panels. Now, if you hover over a panel, and it's got an arrow, you can expand the panel and pin it open if you need to, like that. When you click on the pin again, you unpin it, it goes back into the ribbon. As you move along these panels, you'll see you have lots of different commands. You'll also notice that some of the commands have a fly-out arrow. So if I go to something like circle, you can see there's lots of different circle commands I can use. So the whole idea is that you click on those fly outs to expand out and find the commands that you want to use. So the interface is quite different to older versions of AutoCAD. The drawing area hasn't changed much. You've still got your cursor. You still got your drawing as you can see on the screen. You've got the view cube over here, and the navigation bar here. You've also got the command line down at the bottom of the screen. And down here, you've got your tabs, model tab, layout tabs. And over here, you've got your status bar. Now I'll touch on all different aspects of the interface as we go through the course. So don't worry too much. I'll guide you to where you need to be in each of the videos as you use your AutoCAD interface.
